The Unspoken Topic – Depression
It was around 11:00 PM at night, was checking my WhatsApp after a long tiring day.
Suddenly saw one of my friend’s status saying – RIP
Felt like, I have seen the person somewhere.
Quickly pinged him & enquired,
My friend replied: He committed suicide, few are saying he was going through depression. He was our age 23.
I felt sad but was not quite shocking to me.
Stats say that – 1 out of every 5 people in India are depressed. (> 25 crores approx.)
The shocking truth!
There are plenty of reasons for depression, whether it is from not finding a job to not being cared for by the loved ones.
But one thing, I find common is the lack of empathy in this world, which is the need of the hour amidst the pandemic.
If we are more kind, respectful, ethical, humble & empathetic towards people around us; I feel there will be at least 50% less depressed people on this earth.
Our media realised, How serious depression is! only after the death of a superstar like Sushant Singh Rajput.
Every life matters, irrespective of who they are & what they do.
We need to start living in the present, not live in the past nor worry about the future, which is not easy to do!
P.S: I am a fan of Sushant, miss him (nothing against him)
Not a therapist, but can listen
